NYSOGA Summer & Winter Rendezvous

NYSOGA Summer Rendezvous 2023: July 28 – 30, 2023

Mark your calendars and make plans to attend Summer Rendezvous at Max V Shaul State Park. The park sits at the foot of Toe Path Mountain in Fultonham, NY. The park is in the Historic Schoharie Valley that was called the breadbasket of the American Revolution. For an overview of the park, visit Max V Shaul State Park

NYSOGA has reserved the Group Camping Area at Max V Shaul State Park for Summer Rendezvous. The group Camping Area is set off by itself with picnic tables, several fire rings, and a nearby bathhouse with showers. The park has a playground, large ball field for field activities, horseshoe and corn hole courts. The Schoharie and Panther Creeks run at the park boundaries for fishing, and They are within walking distance. Fishing is also in the Schoharie Reservoir. You will need a DEP Access Permit, that is issued by the NYC Department of Environmental Protection. The Blenheim/Gilboa Power Authority Reservoir is also available for fishing and boating.

Usual Summer Rendezvous activities include: plenty of fun get togethers around the campfire with fellow NYSOGA Guides and their families, Saturday Night Potluck Dinner, time to enjoy the local area, or just pass the time by enjoying this Great State Park.

Area information: the Cobleskill Regional Hospital is a 45 minute drive away ; within a 30 minute drive is…..the village of Middleburg for supplies as needed ; several local farm stands for excellent fresh produce ; the Old Stone Fort, a Revolutionary War Church/Fort ; a sister park, Mine Kill, with 3 swimming pools, miles of hiking trails and a 70 foot waterfall and free admission ; a NYS Power Authority hydro-electric generating plant with a visitors center ; the home and burial place of John Burroughs, the conservationist and his Woodchuck Lodge; Lansing Manor, a home built by John Lansing who was a delegate from New York State to the Constitutional Convention in 1787 ; and an easy hike up Vroman’s Nose with an exceptional views that overlook the Schoharie Valley.

Please note that there will be no cost to attend Summer Rendezvous. There are established park Group Camping Area Rules that we all will have to abide by. The process to register for Rendezvous is currently being worked out. Watch for future notices that will give you further information.
